Founded in 1970, the restaurant chain was one of the first casual/eclectic dining experiences – popular for first dates, prom dinners, anniversaries and special family events. In 2009, Kotis bought the brand and the last remaining Darryl's Wood Fired Grill at 3300 West Gate City Blvd. in Greensboro. The company spent nearly $2 million reinventing the concept and renovating the restaurant, which now sports large outdoor patios and a bonfire waiting area. Darryl's serves many popular items from its history, including Darryl's Cajun Shrimp, Darryl's Crackers and Pig Pounder Beer, a brand originally created by Darryl's in 1988.

Painted Plate (Vineyard)

3404 Whitehurst Rd.

Chef Brad Semon created the Greensboro catering company in 1993. Kotis bought the brand in 2017, and moved it to 3404 Whitehurst Road. The Painted Plate caters weddings and other upscale events, offering a range of gourmet, vegetarian, vegan and kosher dishes that Semon continues to create as chef. The location is also home to Painted Plate at The Vineyard, an indoor and outdoor event space that can host up to 250 guests, and up to 500 for a stand-up event. The mezzanine presents a rustic ambiance with a wine barrel display, while the main event space offers an open layout.

Pig Pounder Brewery

1107 Grecade St.

Kotis opened the microbrewery at 1107 Grecade St. in the Midtown section of Greensboro in 2014. The name comes from Pig Pounder Beer, a brand created in 1988 for Darryl's Wood Fired Grill in Greensboro. Specializing in English ales, Pig Pounder's flagship brew is Boar Brown, an English brown ale that won the Gold Award from the international World Beer Cup in 2016, and a gold medal in the 2017 World Drink Awards for Best English Brown Ale in the World.

Pig Pounder Pavilion

1111 Grecade St.

Pig Pounder also features a public taproom, which is available for events, and a dog-friendly pavilion with ping pong, foosball and corn hole. It’s also home to many murals curated by Kotis Street Art, a project that has brought dozens of art installations to Greensboro. The best-known piece in the pavilion is "No Filter," a 3-D image of President Donald Trump created by Greek muralist Insane51.
